Do you work with people navigating one of life’s biggest financial transitions?
Wedding planners. Premarital counselors. Therapists. HR professionals. Employers. If the people you serve are stepping into marriage, combining finances, or starting a new career chapter — we should talk.
I’m Adell Simmons, AFC® — a financial counselor and coach who helps people at exactly that moment build the skills, mindset, and systems to lead their financial lives with confidence. Not with a generic budget template. With the real work.
Engaged couples, newlyweds, and young professionals who are stepping into a new financial chapter — and want to start building financial leadership from the beginning.
More specifically: people who make a decent income, feel behind or stuck with money, and have tried apps or advice before that didn’t stick — because the real issue was never just the numbers. They carry some shame about past money decisions and are ready to leave it behind. They’re motivated, and they’re at exactly the right moment for this work to matter.
"We’re trying to figure out how to pay for the wedding without going into debt."
"We haven’t really talked about money yet — we probably should."
"We have completely different spending styles and I’m already stressed about it."
"I don’t want money to be a source of stress after we’re married."
"We fight about money more than anything else."
"We come from really different financial backgrounds."
"I know our money stuff is going to be a problem but I don’t know how to fix it."
"We have different money management styles and neither of us wants to budge."
"I just started at a new income level and have no idea what to do with it."
"I keep meaning to start investing but I never actually do."
"I’m stressed about money even though I’m making more than I ever have."
"I don’t feel like an adult with my finances yet."
"I know I need to get a will but I can’t even think about that until I sort out the basics."
"We just got married and we’re trying to figure out whose accounts to keep."
"I need someone to help me understand how money actually works before I can make bigger decisions."
"My clients need financial coaching before they’re ready for what I do."
Real conversations about money — without the conflict
A shared plan that reflects both partners’ values and goals
Lasting habits — not a spreadsheet that gets abandoned
Confidence and clarity going into one of life’s biggest transitions
Accountability and support — without judgment or shame
A trusted, credentialed resource your clients will thank you for
Clients who feel cared for remember you — and refer you back
A natural extension of your own work — not a competing service
Ready-to-share materials, no extra work on your end
A genuine two-way partnership built on mutual trust and aligned values
The best referrals happen at two moments:
before a big financial decision — combining finances, buying a home, changing jobs —
or
right after a major life change when old habits haven’t had time to calcify yet.
You’re already in those conversations.
If someone says any of the phrases above, that’s the moment.
Send me a quick message or email introducing the client. No formal intake on your end — just a warm handoff.
I follow up directly, get them started with the free Financial Health Assessment, and keep things low-pressure and welcoming.
Clients who feel well cared for remember who referred them. This partnership works both ways.
I hold an AFC® (Accredited Financial Counselor) designation and a Bachelor’s degree in Family Finance from Utah State University. I’ve spent over 20 years in financial education and counseling — including extensive work with military families navigating some of the most financially complex situations imaginable: deployment, relocation, irregular income, financial crisis under pressure.
I created the Financial Leadership by Design™ methodology because I kept seeing the same gap: smart, capable people who had never been given the right education, framework, or support at the moment that mattered most. Engaged couples and young professionals at the start of their financial lives are exactly that moment.
I don’t sell financial products. I don’t earn commissions. My only goal is the financial wellbeing of the people I work with — and by extension, the trust of the partners who refer them.
If your clients are at a financial turning point, I’d love to be the person you trust to support them. Let’s spend 15 minutes getting to know each other’s work.
